From their app-building experience, they launched Freshworks Studio and began designing mobile apps for online websites, and Shaun Jamieson joined the team as the Chief Strategy Officer. One of their first clients—James Degreef—was one of the moderators of the conversation. Sam and Rohit described how James hired them early in their journey to build him a mobile app, and later became a major investor and advisor to the company.
Once the main portion of the talk was over, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions. One question that drew laughs from the crowd was an audience member asking the panellists how much the ArriveCan app was actually worth. For context, two Canadian tech companies recreated the app over the weekend, a stunt designed to mock the $54 million paid by the government for it. Rohit responded that what was not accounted for in the production was the cost of time spent interacting with the federal government.
After the main event was finished, the group headed over to Swans for drinks, food, and socializing.
Thanks to everyone who came out and made the night so enjoyable. Extra special thanks to our sponsors, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, and Renzoku Tech School.
We look forward to seeing you all again at CIN’s next event.
